Eugene Souleiman Shows HOW TO Get The Look

There are some fun looks coming out of Paris Fashion Week, but our favorite so far is this dynamic finish by Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, Eugene Souleiman for the Haider Ackermann collection.

Souleiman talked of a "new ‘Marilyn Monroe’ inspired by the peroxide platinum blondes of the 1950s who had met a man from the military and snuck away for the night, had some fun and then needed to get her hair out of the way." The Wella Professionals team focused on contrasts by adding a bleached half wig to the front of the head which had tinted dark roots. Souleiman created more character to the look by using texturizing spray to change the hair texture to make it lighter. The smooth ‘buzzcut’ inspired sides were kept in place by a generous placement of strong hairspray.

Souleiman offers his HOW TO:

1. Start with clean freshly washed and conditioned hair, using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, to ensure hair is in perfect condition

2. Apply Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Hair Primer to wet hair and blow dry with a round brush keeping the hair as flat to the head as possible

3. The purpose of this prep stage is to reduce the volume of the hair and keep it as flat as possible – so using a soft brush pull the hair back in to a ponytail across the ear line spraying with Wella Professionals Super Set hair spray to keep in place

4. For the show, Eugene and the team had pre prepared individual half wigs which were bleached with darker roots – once the wig has been attached, pull the hair back and attach to the original ponytail, keeping the sides as flat as possible, spraying with Wella Professionals Super Set hair spray as you brush through the sides, keeping the top section of hair completely free of the ponytail

5. Spray the roots of the hair and the body of the ponytail with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray  and blast with a hairdryer to create a dry raw texture to the hair

6. For the show, Eugene and the team sprinkled the ponytail with talcum powder to give a dusty effect

7. Twist the ponytail and tie back on the original ponytail to form a ‘bun’ shape – leaving the lengths of the ponytail free

8. Pull the remaining lengths of hair to cover the bun and pin into place leaving the ‘spiky’ ends free

9. Take thinning shears and cut in to the front section of the hair to create thin pointy spikes of hair, blast the hair upwards with a hairdryer, spraying the hair with Wella  Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray to hold in place
