How To Get the Most Out of PBA's BeaconBeacon provides the nation's most promising cosmetology students with education and opportunities to network with some of the industry's high-profile salon owners and stylists during PBA Beauty Week, held each July in Las Vegas.

Q. How can students leverage this networking opportunity to get the most out of the experience?

A. “I have had the privilege of being the facilitator of Beacon for many years now. It is one of the greatest contributions the Professional Beauty Association makes,” says Geno Stampora, Stampora Consulting Inc., who has been a stylist, salon owner and industry personality for decades. “My suggestion to every student is to meet as many people as possible and to collect contact information. Not only do students benefit from the actual seminar, which includes hearing from and getting to know the biggest and best names in beauty, but the hundreds of beauty professionals and salon owners who attend the program. Students are taught how to connect and make great first impressions. I suggest to the students that once they get home, they immediately write to everyone they met, send a card and some contact info. Even though many of the students come with their bios to pass out, the experience is priceless.”
