UPDATE 5.19.14:  Out of 1100 entries to the American Crew All-Star Challenge, a men’s styling and photo shoot competition, only 14 stylists were chosen to compete for the global title.  They came to Lisbon, Portugal for two days of photo shoots with American Crew founder and photographer, David Raccuglia to realize their vision. Jerome Kantner of Germany was crowned the All-Star Global Champion on April 28, 2014.

The final photo that was created in Lisbon is the first displayed here while the second photo was the winning country entry and the image that secured the stylists a place in the global challenge.  Brief interviews were conducted at the photo studio.

Meet Switzerland's Country Winner and competitor, Bruno Lodise:

It was a dream come true for Bruno Lodise to be on a photo shoot with American Crew Founder David Raccuglia.  “I have two heroes,” he said.   “My personal hero is the Dalia Llama and my professional hero is David Raccuglia.  I told David about my two heroes and he said he had taken a picture of the Dalai Llama and he was going to share it with me.  In this way, things have come full circle. It was the fulfillment of a dream to work with him.  I feel like a kid.”

Bruno came to the shoot with a vision of exactly what he wanted to do but still he had to see if his model would line up with that vision. Bruno’s inspiration was “Freedom” so he wanted to have a look that corresponded—simple, not too sophisticated.

“The model had quite fine hair but I built it up. The volume was part of the freedom theme, really,” said Bruno.   “He (the model) had a face with so much character. I explained my inspiration to him and told him what I was planning to do with his hair.  What I liked about him is that he had strength and sensitivity, both. “

HAIR STORY:

Being a hairdresser has always been my dream job. I started an apprenticeship in a very well-known salon at the age of 17. After my apprenticeship, I made it a priority to continue to train, especially in the specialty of men’s grooming and men’s style. I’ve studied at American Crew seminars in Paris, where I had good experiences and learned a lot. After completing several different opportunities with salons around the country, I opened my own salon, Coiffure Style Bruno, in Zurich in 1997.

 GROOMING MUST-HAVE:

A full American Crew shave experience is amazing. I also recommend American Crew Forming Cream and Defining Paste.
