HOW-TO: Shine Line with Colorgraphics Lacquer

Matrix’s new Colorgraphics Lacquer collection is new for salons in June and works for quick, natural-looking highlights or statement-making hair color effects.

The six semipermanent Lacquer shades come in vivid yellow, orange, red, purple, magenta and clear and can be applied full-strength or intermixed for ranges from pure tones to pastel shades.

STEP 1: Section as shown and isolate the fringe area.

STEP 2: Take a horizontal parting approximately 2 cm above the hairline. Protect the hair by placing foil on top of this section. Next, take a fine, horizontal slice and use your brush to paint the mid-section only. To diffuse the color, hold the brush diagonally and gently feather in the color by making small, vertical strokes.

STEP 3: Working your way up, take fine, horizontal slices and lay the hair directly on top of hte previous section. Use your previous section as a guide and continue to apply color to the same area.

Pro Tip: For a more subtle shine line, do nto color the last top section of hair. Protect the uncolored hair by placing a foil in between the last section.
