EMMYS 2014: Melissa McCarthy’s Voluminous Waves by Giannandrea

Celebrity and Editorial Hairstylist, and Macadamia Professional International Creative Director, Giannandrea, created actress Melissa McCarthy’s red carpet waves for the 2014 Emmy Awards.

RED CARPET HOW-TO:

STEP ONE: Giannandrea used Macadamia’s Healing Oil Spray to prep the hair for extra shine and UV protection and some Volumizing Dry Shampoo on her roots. He then blew out on her entire head, in small sections, using mid-size round brush then set each section in medium Velcro Rollers.

“I let the hair sit for 30 minutes while she had her makeup done. After 30 minutes, we took the rollers out and brushed her entire head using a large Macadamia paddle brush to keep the volume. I then took a 1-inch curling iron and waved 2” sections of hair. It is important to give the hair a slight twist around the iron to get great waves and to keep ends textured,” explained Giannandrea.

STEP TWO: He continued the process by back combing the top of the crown a bit, then flipping her head upside down, shook it all up with his hands. He then used Macadamia’s Control hairspray all over the hair, and then flipped the hair back over. He finished the look with finger styling and one final spray all around to seal the hair in place.
