Najah Aziz (@najahliketheriver) of Like The River Salon, Atlanta, created quite a buzz with this textured Mohawk. MODERN tracked her down to get the HOW TO:
Step 1: Section the sides from corner of eyebrow down to the nape of the neck on both sides.
Step 2: Cut the hair on the sides vertically, 1 inch from the scalp.
Step 3: Overdirect the top to leave length in the front.
Step 4: Overdirect the back center section to the crown to leave length in the back.
Step 5: Curl with a 1/2" flat iron and apply Madinah Oil to create shine and more texture.
Step 6: The curls were created in the center by curling in alternating opposite directions (my motto: "every flip has a friend") and the sides are beveled flat with slight texture.
And we didn't forget the color! Aziz used Pravana 3N with Zero Lift developer as a demi. It offers the perfect hue.
