Each day, 10,000 women celebrate their 40th birthday, according to Sue Hanson, co-founder of Evolve. “And 40 percent of those women are going to struggle with hair loss,” she says. Here’s how the brand is working to solve that challenge with its Volumizer system.

HOW IT WORKS: The Volumizer from Evolve is a hair integration system featuring a poly-mesh base. It’s specifically applied to the crown to camouflage the hair loss areas and to create fullness and
coverage above the occipital bone. Available in 29 colors, seven blended colors, four textures (silky straight, relaxed straight, body wave and deep curl) and three densities, the system can be customized to suit each clients’ personal needs.
THE BENEFITS: This hair-replacement treatment is non-invasive and free of chemicals or adhesives. It allows the scalp to breathe, doesn’t trap or hold water, is completely flexible and causes no damage to existing hair. The Volumizer can be shampooed and heat styled like natural hair for four to five weeks before retightening is needed. For stylists, the service helps to improve their
profit margin.
THE IDEAL CLIENT: Anyone who is having an issue of thinning hair or hair loss is a candidate for this service. The Volumizer is especially beneficial for clients who have done laser treatments and/or who haven’t been candidates for hair replacement surgery or transplants. The variety of densities works with clients who have fine, thin hair, patches or total baldness. For younger clients who not only want volume, but also want length, the Volumizer can be used in combination with extensions.
THE STYLIST: Only licensed stylists who have completed Evolve’s intensive, three-day training program and actively sell Volumizers can perform the service. The certification class includes a full day of haircutting, buttering and melting, which is a way to blend the system with extensions.
THE TIME: The average installation duration is two and a half to three hours for the first service.
THE COST: The Volumizer service with cut and styling ranges from $1,000 to $1,800.
