When we spotted this green pixie with yellow accents by Philip Ring, we knew we had to track down the color formula. Luckily, Ring was more than happy to share it with us.

1. Pre-lighten hair with Wella Blondor and 20 volume in the shape of a shield to a pale yellow shade.

2. After pre-lightening, rinsing and drying, begin to foil pattern the front left side of the hair with a diagonal application. Ring recommends using Embee Meche instead of foils because of their grip factor. Ring took slices back to back with the following formulas: 1 part Joico Peacock Green + 1 part Joico Cobalt Blue, 1 part Joico Peacock Green + 2 parts Joico Yellow, and Joico Yellow.

3. Paint the first formula on the roots and the second formula onto the mid-shaft and ends. "It looks better on short hair if the roots have the darkest color, and the ends have more saturation of the lightest," says Ring. "Be creative, and mix up the placement, and you will always have an interesting color!" Inspired by the quote, "follow the yellow brick road to Emerald City," Ring wanted to create a strong golf band of color. He achieved this effect by taking slices of the Joico Yellow with different designs.

4. For heat protection and shine, apply Wella Flowing Form cocktailed with Wella Luxe Oil Reconstructive Elixir.
