New Campaign Asks Stylists to Mark the SPOT!

Hairdressers have an eye on the scalp, face and neck, where a mole or lesion may be indicating melanoma. Phil Mania, owner of Mania Hair Studio in Park Ridge, New Jersey, wants to increase awareness among stylists so that they can provide an early warning to clients about suspicious skin areas. Mania has been assisting his client Mark S. who, along with the Melanoma Research Foundation, has developed a program called “Mark the SPOT!”

“Our intention is to lead Mark the SPOT! in a global effort among the stylist community,” says Mania, who lost his own father to the often deadly disease. The motto is: If you SPOT something, say something! For more information, visit melanoma.org/MarktheSPOT.
