Our Healthy Hairdresser friend Pravana Global Creative Director Sherri Jessee, 2013 NAHA Editorial Stylist of the Year, introduced us to yoga and Ayurveda expert Katie Silcox, whose new book, Healthy Happy Sexy, guides women toward establishing a life that will bring them the things they want. But what do they want?

From her coaching sessions, Silcox has discovered that a lot of people:

  • Want to be having better sex and more intimacy with their significant other.
  • Feel fat.
  • Feel unworthy of their dreams.
  • Say they do something “too much,” such eating sugar, eating for comfort, drinking or smoking pot.
  • Say they’re not doing what they want to be doing—yoga, meditation, painting, writing, singing.

If you’re three weeks into your New Year’s Resolutions and having trouble keeping them, Silcox suggests adding more stillness into your life in order to get in touch with behavioral patterns and feelings in your unconscious mind that may be sabotaging you. Try yoga, meditation, professional therapy or any way to deeply feel your emotions.
