Drawing inspiration from 2015’s runway shows, Cosmetologists Chicago’s latest collection, Jet-Setting, reinterprets this season’s fashion-forward looks in a fun, approachable way. Under the direction and leadership of CC Co-Directors Karen Gordon and John Gialluisi, Sarah Koseck, Jennifer Price, Allyson Tinberg and Sal Misseri combined their unique talents and imagination to create rocker-chic, uber-cool looks to be worn by headliners, the in-crowd and girls who just want to have fun.
Jet-Setting provides a new, chic response to the straight hair we’ve seen for years, featuring not-so-effortless textured styles. “Hairdressers want more texture in the hair that looks cool, is sculptural and moves,” Gordon says. “Clients don’t want to take away the natural texture of their hair. They want touchable, soft hair that looks cool, is sculptural and moves.”
For the past four years, Cosmetologists Chicago, organizers of America’s Beauty Show, has invited more than 20 hairdressers and 20 assistants from salons throughout Chicago to participate on their photo trend team. “It’s powerful for an association to bring together separate artists to create a strong collection,” says Misseri, NAHA winner and stylist at Chicago’s Ladies & Gentleman Salon & Spa.
In meeting and networking with industry leaders while on set, CC has provided emerging artists with a rewarding, unique opportunity to further their careers. “I really enjoyed being a part of this shoot,” Gialluisi says. “From the ’70s-inspired trend, which was right on point, to the team that was great to work with and our collaboration with the photographer Babak. It was an awesome experience!”
