People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which is the largest animal rights organization in the world, has certified Malibu Wellness, Inc. as a Cruelty-Free Manufacturer of personal care for the hair, scalp and skin as part of its Beauty Without Bunnies Program. The wellness company has been added to PETA's master listing of more than 1,500 companies who make cosmetics, personal-care products, household-cleaning products and other common household products who have implemented a policy that prohibits animal testing.
Malibu Wellness, Inc. encourages consumers to make the pledge for cruelty-free shopping in order to stop the abuse of animals.
PETA asserts testing of cosmetics on animals is unreliable and an necessary. Alternatives techniques to animal testing methods have been designed, one such technique is an In vitro testing technique. This can utilize human cells and tissues to study and determine the safety of a product on humans. Others studies are conducted using In silico models (computer models) or volunteer humans.
Malibu Wellness, Inc. uses two of these methods to test its products: In vitro techniques and Human volunteers and has signed PETA's statement of assurance. The statement verifies that neither they nor their ingredient suppliers conduct, commission or pay for any tests on animals for ingredients, formulations or finished products, and do not plan to do so in the future, which includes products made under the Malibu C Brand.
