Howard Murad, M.D., CEO and founder of Murad, Inc., and the Inclusive Health movement, was honored with the Excellence in Integrative Medicine Award from SOSMentor, a non-profit organization dedicated to nutrition education. Recognized for his accomplishments in health and community service, Dr. Murad accepted the award yesterday, March 31, at SOSMentor’s Healthy Kids Luncheon in Los Angeles.
“Dr. Murad’s Inclusive Health philosophy encompasses nutrition, exercise, mindfulness and stress-reduction. These are concepts that SOSMentor strives to instill in underserved youth through our programs,” said Carole Donahue, co-founder of SOSMentor."We are fortunate to have him as an ally and a pillar of our Healthy Schools Campaign. Thanks to the support of the Murad Family Foundation, SOSMentor was able to provide nutrition education and foster artistic expression for over 14,000 students in 700 schools.”
SOSMentor is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that empowers underserved youth to eat healthy, stay active, and advocate for health in their communities. Yesterday’s event brought together a network of business professionals, educators and community leaders who are dedicated to children's health. The luncheon is SOSMentor's biggest fundraising event of the year and enables them to sustain vital programs that have proven effective at improving students' eating habits, physical activity levels, confidence and leadership skills.
The organization also honored Dixon Slingerland, Executive Director of the Youth Policy Institute, and Ned Colletti, Senior Advisor to the President for the Los Angeles Dodgers for their contributions to the health of underserved youth in Los Angeles.
