Kesley Reynolds (@khbkesley), a freelance hair artist in Salt Lake City, UT, said her client was "over" blonde. "She wanted to go back dark with some subtle lighter pieces through the bottom and around her face," says Reynolds, "but she pointed out she wanted 'nothing crazy.'  Her hair was super porous from being over processed so I knew it was going to fade. I wanted to create something that would fade out nicely."

Here Reynolds shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: To her base apply 2 oz Aloxxi 3N with 1/4 oz copper intensifier as a filler with 10 volume.

Step 2: Section the hair into quadrants. Apply the shade in Step 1 from roots to about 6 inches down to the mid shaft.

Step 3: Weave through the ends using Aloxxi 7G and 8GG with 7 volume.

Step 4: Apply the same formula as the base color to the rest of the ends left out.

Step 5: Process for 20 minutes.  Rinse and condition. Blow dry and style using Sexy Hair products and a Bellami 6 in 1 curler.
