Ruby Devine (@rubydevine) of Frizzles Salon and Spa, Alexandria, VA, wows us on a regular basis with her gorgeous color designs and transformations. We were understandably impressed with this 6 hour makeover and asked for the details.

Step 1: Remove existing fashion color.  Apply Wella Blondor cream lightener with 30 volume to the new growth. Cap and process under Climazon for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Re-apply Blondor with 20 volume and Olaplex from new growth to ends. Cap and process for 20 minutes.

Step 3: At this point, the hair was still dark and uneven. Remix new lightener with 30 volume and apply to the dark spots, working over the entire canvas. Process for 15 minutes, lifting to a light and even canvas. Apply an even coating of Olaplex #2 and process during the haircut. After cut, shampoo and blow dry.

Step 4: Apply Pravana Locked-In colors

The top section was a mix of 1 part purple, 1/2 part blue, 1/4 part pink, and 1 part Pravana clear (from the Vivids line) to create an intense lavender.

2nd was a tapered off set panel about 3 inches wide. On that panel apply a mix of 1 part yellow with 1/4 part red, to create orange.

3rd panel was the remaining hair, also about 3 inches wide. Apply 1 part teal mixed with 1/8 part yellow.

Step 5: Process at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Step 6: Lastly, apply pixilation technique using Goldwell Blonding cream. (Removing the purple tone with the blonding cream results in a teal color). Process for 5 minutes and then rinse and condition the hair.
