Jessica Ryland (@hairbyjessica_) of Robert Morales Studio, Southlake, TX, says that this particular guest was getting a standard partial highlight every 6-8 weeks at another salon and was looking for a change.

"With how much she travels, she wasn't sure she could maintain the upkeep of her previous style," Ryland says. "With her hair so long, she found herself wearing it up frequently."

Ryland and the guest decided to bring up her length slightly below her collar bone. "This gave her enough hair to pull back if she wanted, but not too much to overwhelm her with wearing it down. She likes casual and effortless styles so this haircut was both flattering and ideal for her lifestyle."

To deal with the warm, golden tones in her hair and the pink undertones in her skin, Ryland decided to introduce cooler tones.

In total, the transition took took 2 1/2 hours.
