Kimemily Pham (@excellenthairsalon), owner of Excellent Hair Salon & Spa Inc. in Fremont California, continues to impress us with incredible makeovers. For this one we asked for more details. "My client Rayanne came to me wanting to go red all over. Not just any red, she wanted bright red!" Ryanne received balayage highlights 5 months ago and arrived with 2 inches of new growth on a natural level 3.

Here Pham shares the details on this 4 hour service:

STEP 1: Begin at the nape. Strategically weave the previous balayage highlights and some dark color out, for dimension.

STEP 2: Place the darker hair  in foils and apply Matrix Light Master lightener + 30vl, applying 2" away from the scalp through midshaft, leaving out the lighter ends. Continue with this procedure throughout the hair.  Pump up the developer to 40vl once reach the front and the crown.

STEP 3: Process at room temperature for 20 minutes. lifting to level 7W (Note: "I used a higher developer because these dark strands were colored a dark brown 5 months ago.")

STEP 4: At the sink, pull out all the foils. Take the left over lightener and apply to all the hair including the lighter strands, but still leaving out the newgrowth. Process for 5 minutes.

STEP 5: Rinse well. Shampoo with Tressa water color in Crimson Splash, making sure to saturate the entire hair.  Let it sit for 10 minutes. (Note: "This acts as my filler.") Rinse and blow dry.

STEP 6: Apply in a feathering fashion to zone 1: Matrix Socolor 5RC 1oz+ 6RC 2oz + 3oz 20vl.

STEP 7: Once done, mix 6oz CHI Chromashine in Red. Apply to zone 2 & 3 first, then blend zone 1 & 2 together leaving out 1 inch at the base.

STEP 8: Process at room temperature for 30 minutes. Shampoo with Tressa red shampoo in Crimson Splash.  Apply Biolage Conditioning Balm. Leave in for 10 minutes and then rinse. Style using Moroccanoil.
