"My client came to me wanting to be a new fun color," says Meri Kate O'Connor (@merikateoconnor), Senior Colorist at Eva Scrivo Salons (@evascrivosalons) & Educator at the Eva Scrivo Advanced Academy, NYC. "She is a natural level 2, Asian hair, and had 1 1/2 inches of re-growth. Beyond the re-growth, her hair was bleached and dyed all different shades of blue and green. Prior to seeing me, she gave herself a 'bleach wash' at home to try to remove some of the blue pigment, which resulted in a tie-dye effect. We originally agreed on dying her hair blue, but halfway through the process she decided that she instead wanted a dark turquoise root shadow, fading to a lighter color on the ends. This whole process took about 4 hours."

Here O'Connor shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Apply Goldwell Silklift and 30v developer to re-growth area. Process to very pale yellow (for about one hour.) Rinse thoroughly.

Step 2: At the sink, apply Silklift with 20v from mid shaft to ends to help remove the uneven pigment that was left over from the previous blue color. Process for 10 minutes until the color turns mint green. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Blow dry 100%.

Step 3: Using Pravana Green with a little Blue and a drop of neon green, apply to the root area and let it sit for 10 minutes. Comb through the mid-shaft, processing for a total of 30 minutes.

NOTE: "I did not refresh the ends with color since we wanted to keep them lighter. When I rinsed the color, I let it run through the ends for about 30 seconds to 'refresh' it."

Step 4: Rinse, shampoo and condition. After conditioning, seal the color in with Goldwell Color Lock Serum to ensure color intensity.
