Friend "Discount" Highlights To Pro Soft Blonde Melt

Amanda Joseph (@thehearsalon) of Mia Bella Salon, Seattle, Washington, says "This client has been coming time for 7 years. This time she tried a friend of hers because she got a discounted price. She wanted some soft blonde melted throughout but ended up with very chunky highlights that also had marks and were an a quarter inch off the hairline."

Joseph shares how she corrected to a soft blonde melt:

Step 1: Using Keune 5.23 with 10 volume, apply to root and melt down the mids.

Step 2: Using a "foilage" technique, free hand paint (like balayage) but wrap in a foil to block off the barrier.  "This makes for a much faster color correction. I can color and process the base at the same time." FORMUA: Kenra ammonia free bleach with 30 volume and Bondplex. Apply to about 50% of the hair.

Step 3: To the remaining hair coat with the Keune 5.23 and 10 volume developer.

Step 4: Process without heat for 20 mins then with heat for 10. Shampoo with Keune silver shampoo.

Step 5: Tone with Keune semi level 9 with a pinch of 0/11 (blue) to cancel out old orangey tones. Deep condition and style.
