How-To: Reflective Color Using Bedhead by TIGI Colour Trip

by Maggie Mulhern | September 23, 2016

MODERN invited Thomas Osborn, Bedhead by TIGI creative director and vice president of education and Richy Kandasamy, creative director/colorist, to the our studios to show how team TIGI is playing with the new Colour Trip line.

For model Jen, Kandasamy chose colors that are opposite, “but still work! I am going by her skin tone, which in this case is great and offers multiple opportunities.” Kandasamy chose to apply some reflective color to add tones of movement. A deeper base was enhanced by lighter, brighter tips. “The short hair really offered some fun options.

“The goal with the cut was to create a loose finish,” Osborn says. “The bit of length in the perimeter leaves an element of softness.” The fringe is left strong to serve as a focal point for the color.

There were MANY highlights from the 2019 MODERN Artist Connective Artist Session photo shoot held recently at the Eva Scrivo Salon in NYC, but one that caused a lot of buzz was the creation of the decorative florets created by Haley Garber (@beautybyhaleygarber).  Garber spent hours creating dozens of the florets that were eventually placed in the hair to accent the three final looks by Garber and her hair partner Stephanie Hodges (@stephstyles) who created the beautiful and dimensional color.

Besides trying to impress the owner, it’s important to choose a salon that has a culture that aligns with who you are. Often, we spend more time at work than at home, so it’s important you choose a “work home” where you feel comfortable, where you feel supported, and where you feel like you have opportunity to grow and learn. These questions will arm you with answers to help make your decision.
