On Sunday, April 24, at the Avalon Nightclub in Hollywood, four finalists worked onstage in front of a live audience and a panel of industry experts to determine which of their finished looks would win the Bio Ionic Style Award.

The four finalists—Alix Clymer, Kelsey Deuel, Samantha Daly and Toni Larson—were selected from a wide field of entrants. Each prepared their models prior to the live event but were given five minutes onstage to do their finishing. Both the judges—Nick Stenson, artistic director for jcPenney salons; Sonya Dove,  Wella global artist and Hairdreams ambassador; Angus Mitchell, artistic director for Paul Mitchell; Rebecca Taylor, master colorist and Marlene Arce, vice president of education at L'Oreal Professionnel—and the audience, via text, were able to vote for their favorites.

Kelsey Deuel, who created a "Rockabilly Retro" design and a beautiful, bright blonde, was the grand prize winner. The other finalists all created gorgeous color and texture, demonstrating tremendous hair artistry.

Bio Ionic founder, Fernando Romero, presented his "Decades in Hair" runway show, with models styled to represent iconic looks from years past. Onstage, Eden Sassoon and Angus Mitchell presented Romero with an award, acknowledging his importance to and influence on the professional beauty world.
