For the first runway show aboard a former aircraft carrier,  Lead Hairstylist, T. Cooper of Metro Look, and her team created the illusion of misty, wet hair for the Chi Zhang show during New York Fashion Week F/W 2017.  Cooper and team worked with styling products from ECRU New York and tools from Sedu for the presentation, held at the Sea, Air, and Space Museum.

Cooper called the style the “Misty Mane”, and was conceived with a lot of input from the designer.

“Since Chi was showing on the Intrepid Navy ship, he wanted hair to have an element of moisture, but he didn’t want it to appear soaking wet, because he didn’t want be completely flat. The only way I could think of to maintain a wet look without being complete flat,  was to utilize oil, ” said Cooper.

PRODUCTS: The looks were created using ECRU New York products: Sunlight Holding Spray, Sunlight Styling Spray Max, and Acai Protein Oil.

STEP ONE: The hairstylists misted the models with Sunlight Holding Spray and dried it with a Sedu blow dryer to make the hair “crunchy”, so that it would maintain its manipulated shape.

STEP TWO: A deep right part was made, and then a Sedu Icon styling iron was used to create large waves in their hair.

STEP THREE: The hairstylists followed by shaking the waves to loosen them up, and applying Acai Protein Oil to give the hair a wet appearance.

STEP FOUR: Lastly, Sunlight Styling Spray Max was used to hold their tresses in place.  “This was such an incredible debut for Chi, and models looked amazing. The ECRU New York products and Sedu tools were the perfect combo” said Cooper.
