The American Crew All-Star Challenge highlights the outstanding world class talents in men’s grooming. The competition combines the art and science of men’s grooming and creating authentic style – the cut, the model and the photograph – to deliver the ultimate interpretation of the American Crew man.

Fifteen finalists recently competed in Brussels with two days of competition photo shoots on May 4 and 5, during which each cut and styled their model, then worked with American Crew Founder David Raccuglia to shoot and select the photo that would represent their final look. Adam Mir of the UK was announced as the American Crew 2016-2017 All-Star Challenge Global Winner on May 8th in a joint event with Revlon Style Masters.

Meet the Paraguayan finalist, Stefano Gallitelli:

Describe your professional career path.

My dad owns a salon, so I grew up spending much of my time there, dreaming of being a hairdresser. I would watch him work, manage and direct the business, which gave me insights into the salon industry. In 2014, I had the opportunity to participate in the TIGI Inspirational Youth program. As a participant I spent a weak in London and then presented my work on stage in Orlando, Florida. After that experience I decided to take classes at the Toni&Guy Academy in Spain. After completing one year, I decided to stay and work to gain experience working in a salon in Europe before coming back to Paraguay and working at the family business.

What do you love most about being a stylist?

I find hairdressing a fascinating job. It is not only a job but a constant source of creativity and expression of beauty. I enjoy helping my customers feel complete with the look that best fits their personality. I like working with people, too. Since I am very familiar with the salon environment I always felt very comfortable and always dreamt of becoming a hairdresser.

Do you have any influences from your life that motivate and inspire you artistically?

My father comes first when it comes to inspiration. With a successful career of over 48 years in the hairdressing industry, he definitely sets an incredible example. He is also an icon to me because of the precision of his haircuts, his capacity to create different styles, to see the client right through and come up with the look that best fits their personality. I also admire the social skills in how he relates to his customers.

How has the American Crew™ brand influenced the way you view men’s grooming?

The different options of products that American Crew has gives me the possibility to create different shapes, textures and finishes for each type of client.
