Melissa Brough (@mehlun) of HXHair, Rugeley, Staffordshire (@hxhair), says "This client had come in a few months ago with fully black box dyed hair and color build up from other box dyes from the past. She explained how she wanted to try being vibrant but wasn't too sure on going all over so I put her a bright red ombre in and as time went on it faded back to blonde. She had then decided she wanted to try being vibrant all over."

Here Brough shares the details for the new look:

Formula and how to:

Step 1: Apply Affinage color stripper to remove a lot of the color build up. Process for 20 minutes.

Step 2: Apply lightener and 9% just on the darker areas and lightener and 6% on the lighter areas ("just to push them a bit.") Dry the hair completely. Process the color on the darker areas for 40 minutes and 20 minutes on the lighter areas.

Step 3: Apply Affinage BRed Magenta on the root. Then alternate the follow along the lengths:

  • Affinage BRed Copper
  • Affinage Colour Dynamics Crimson Kiss
  • Affinage Colour Dynamics Crimson Kiss (Pastelised)

Process for 30 minutes without heat.
