As one of the largest beauty retailers in the U.S. and a destination for salon services, Healthy Hairdresser sponsor Ulta Beauty celebrates hair professionals and clients.
“Our people are at the core of everything we do,” says Nick Stenson, chief creative director. The relationship with her beauty professional is often one of the most important in the client’s life, Stenson observes.
“At Ulta, we’re all things beauty—not just when clients already feel beautiful, but also when they need to feel beautiful,” he says. “Sometimes a hairdresser is the first person somebody talks to about the challenges of fighting cancer. It’s a vulnerable journey, and a beauty professional can make the client feel less alone.” Clients appreciate the stylist’s guidance about impending hair loss, wigs and what happens when the hair comes back.
To emphasize Ulta’s commitment to breast cancer causes, the company holds “A Gorgeous Way to Give,” set this year for Sunday, October 8, as a day of beauty that donates 100% of sales from two special services—a hair cut and style for $20 and a Facefit Facial for $10—to the Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF), which also will receive 50% of the retail purchase price from the Ulta Beauty BCRF Collection of products throughout the month of October while supplies last.
The donations go through the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation (UBCF), which also partners with other community service organizations, including Dress for Success to support women’s economic empowerment.
