MAKEOVER: Blah Blonde to Bright Ice

When this new mother walked through the door needing a little "pick me up" with her hair, Galusha couldn't wait to get started.

"This was her first time in my chair and had been previously doing an all over highlight with a high lift base color and it was not giving her the desired lift she wanted," Galusha says. "Our goal for the first appointment was to get rid of as much of the yellow and orange tones and to just see how light we could lift her hair with also keeping it healthy. Boy did her hair surprise me. It was some of the strongest hair I've ever lightened. We used Olaplex throughout the entire process which allowed us to keep the lightener on longer, and achieve maximum lift without any damage."

Here Galusha shares the details for the makeover:

Step 1: From roots to ends apply Framesi and 30 volume in foils, following the hair line around her face about 7 foils deep. This allowed the front to process brighter and add that POP of blonde around her face!

Step 2: Apply the lightener all over the hair with a free-hand, hair painting technique, leaving 1/4 inch of the roots out, fully saturating everything else.

Step 3: Remove the front foils and paint everything together. Apply a plastic cap to avoid lightener from drying out. Process without heat for 25 minutes, then under heat for 10 minutes. Shampooed with Oligo Blacklight Blue Shampoo.Towel dry.

Step 4: Root shade with Redken Shades EQ 1/2 6T 1/2 6N, and a splash of 3V and 5N. (My favorite new trick for smoking out the roots is a splash of 3V) Apply that two inches down from the roots and process for 10 minutes.

Step 5: Then apply Redken Shades EQ 1/2 9T 1/2 9V all over and melt root shade with the ends. Let that process for another 7 minutes. Rinse and condition with a Fusio Dose Kérastase Treatment.
