The holiday season is prime time for salon traffic—so be ready! We asked our SOLO Artist Advisory Council, a panel of industry experts who lend their voices to important topics for independent stylists, their advice on the topic. We asked, “What is your tip to help salon professionals boost profitability during the holidays?”

“Treatments! Let guests know all of the services you offer and how they can enjoy multiple experiences with you! Adding a treatment to each of your services can increase service revenue by 25%. Gift cards are an incredible way of gaining cash flow through the business, let your guests know that this holiday season they can give the gift of beauty!” —ROBERT CROMEANS, Global Artistic and Business Director, John Paul Mitchell Systems

“Set a retail sales goal for yourself that is achievable—for example sell three products to 25 clients that have not purchased retail previously. Bundle products for the holiday season such as Framesi Color Lover duos and a By Framesi Hairspray. Educate your clients about the why, and you will be a great success! Remember, if you set a personal goal and sell $40 worth of product to 25 new retail clients over the season, you’ll increase your retail sales by $1,000. A simple goal for a better bottom line.” —ROBB BRUCE, Italian Style Team & National Educator, Framesi North America

“A great add-on service to offer clients this season is Kadus Professional’s Glaze It service. It’s can be done in about 10 minutes or less at the bowl leaving clients’ hair with refreshed, shiny color. This would also be a great opportunity to earn a little more cash and have them go home with Kadus Professional’s Color Vibrancy Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment along with some Velvet Oil to help keep the color.” —EVELYN AYALA, Education Manager, Kadus Professional

“Create custom product baskets with high-priced items like dryers and CHI irons. These are easy sales for stocking stuffers and last minute work parties. Having these pre-made gifts available will help rally to create a great retail financial holiday bonus for any salon!” —ANTHONY PENA, Farouk Global Artist

“Make the product accessible! The first thing I do with a client is spray Joico Blonde Life Brightening Veil in their hair. I explain what I’m spraying and why, and then I ask them to hold it for me. This little trick will increase your sales dramatically. If a client is able to hold, see and smell a product, they are more likely to purchase it than if you were to put it in their hair and then put it away. So educate your client and include them in the process with their hands, and you will see those sales go up!” —RICARDO SANTIAGO, Global Artist, Joico
