Deborah Lippman for Badgley Mischka

Deborah Lippmann created nail art for the Hugo Boss and Badgley Mischka runway shows. Learn how to recreate the looks below.

Hugo Boss Inspiration: “It was an honor to work with Jason (Wu), as always, in his final season with Hugo Boss," she says. "We kept things simple with a perfectly buffed nail and toe to complement the clean, minimal clothes.”

Get The Nail Look:

Step 1: To start, a piece of cotton was saturated with The Stripper, lavender nail lacquer remover and wiped over each nail for five seconds to ensure the nail bed was completely cleaned.

Step 2: Next, Eco File was used on an angle and swept in gentle motions to shape each models nail, mirroring the cuticle, which ultimately elongates the look of the finger.

Step 3: To create a beautiful buff, Deborah used Smooth Operator, 4-way nail buffer. This all in one four-sided exfoliator offers four unique fabrics to create a perfectly buffed nail. First, Side 1 smoothed away dullness, then Side 2 buffed away ridges and finally Side 3 smoothed the nail.

Step 4: To ensure the perfect cuticle, Deborah applied Cuticle Remover, an exfoliating cuticle treatment, anywhere the skin met the nail to remove dead skin from the nails. Then, using Cuticle Pusher, Deborah gently pushed back cuticles using small circular movements working from corner to corner. After wiping nails clean, a drop of Cuticle Oil, a hydrating cuticle treatment, was rubbed onto the base of each nail to complete the process.

Step 5: 2 Second Nail Primer was then applied to cleanse away any oil, dirt or residue from the nail plate. Finally, hands and cuticles were massaged with Rich Girl, a broad-spectrum SPF 25 hand cream and The Cure, a nourishing cuticle repair cream, respectively, for complete hydration.

Badgley Mischka Inspiration: “Interview with a Vampire reigned as the creative genius behind Badgley Mischka’s A/W 2018 collection," says Lippmann, founder and creative director. "This layered red on red nail design…as though she had a trail of blood running down her nails…unequivocally captures her in this seductive moment.”

Get The Nail Look:

Step 1: Deborah contoured natural nails into a short, rounded shape using Smooth Operator 4-Way Nail Buffer.

Step 2: To prep the nail plate, she exfoliated and then hydrated the cuticle using her signature Cuticle Remover and Cuticle Oil. She then cleansed the nails with 2-Second Nail Primer prior to base coat application to ensure leftover debris was removed the nail plate was clean.

Step 3: Deborah applied a quarter-size amount of Marshmallow Whipped Hand & Cuticle Scrub to the top of each hand and rubbed in circular motion for 30 seconds each and then wiped away remaining product with a wet towel.

Step 4: For the base, Deborah applied a coat of Gel Lab Pro Base Coat.

Step 5: Deborah then applied two coats of Single Ladies, a flirtatious red crème, and waited two minutes to dry between each coat. Then, she applied a stripe of Dark Side Of The Moon, an absolutely aubergine crème.

Step 6: After waiting 2 minutes to dry, one coat of Gel Lab Pro Top Coat was applied to seal the nails and prevent chipping. The Wait Is Over Quick Dry Drops were added as a finishing touch to ensure faster drying time and a flawless finish.

Step 7: Hands and cuticles were massaged with Rich Girl SPF 25 Hand Cream and The Cure nourishing cuticle repair cream, respectively, for complete hydration.

For the Toes: Deborah completed the above grooming process before outfitting the toes with Gel Lab Pro Base Coat and two coats of Single Ladies, a flirtatious red crème. Deborah applied a stripe of Dark Side Of The Moon, an absolutely aubergine crème, to only the big toe. She then finished with Gel Lab Pro Top Coat and The Wait Is Over Quick Dry Drops.
