The Sassoon International creative team takes inspiration from a snapshot of the German people through the industrial revolution—from a rural to industrial economy—for its Function Collection.
The collection strips back hair design to its essentials—what Vidal Sassoon called a “geometry within geometry” of interior and exterior geometric shapes. The classic Sassoon techniques of foil-work, including woven highlights and two-tone tints, work with the principles of shape and balance to create density within the cut and add strength to the outline. The color palette combines traditional workwear colors such as white linen, French navy and serge brown with washed-through tones of indigo, soft lavender, dusty lilac, old rose and warm blonde.
“We’re moving against the idea of one technique fitting all—it’s all about personalization,” says Edward Darley, U.K. Colour Director.
