Most viral post: A collage of photos of my client, Katie, with different haircuts side-by-side: one-length, layers, graduation.

Favorite apps: Snapseed, it allows me to edit the background of my photos without affecting my model. It helps keep my Instagram photos looking somewhat consistent; Darkroom, sometimes a client of mine will come in with a beautiful bright shirt that’s color doesn’t go with my feed. Or sometimes, there will be a random bright object in the background of my photo that takes away from my subject. Darkroom allows me to tone down or or change the color of that particular object without affecting the rest of the photo; Plann, the analytics I get from Plann are insanely amazing and super helpful! It helps me plan out my Instagram by giving me a preview of how my post will look with the rest of my posts.

Favorite hashtag: #crafthairdresser

I follow: @garyvee @passionsquared @judahsmith @_zgat_

Pro tips: Know who your target audience is. Know everything about them. Think about them when you craft your post. Ask yourself, is your post about you or about them? Give value to your audience. Love them hard. Then everything else will follow. You’ll create content with them in mind. You’ll photograph with them in mind. You create captions, hashtags and post a certain times with them in mind.

Hidden talent: I create my own haircut animations for my Instagram.

How social media changed my life: I always wanted to share my love of hair cutting with other hair professionals. It seemed impossible back in the day. Social media has allowed me to be able to travel every weekend teaching classes all over the country. It also gave me the means to connect with other hairstylists over the world using Google translate and emojis. I love love love technology!
