Specialty: Heavy teasy-light (a backcombed styled foiling technique) with a balayage. This gives me the freedom to have softer, subtle lightness on the painted pieces (balayage) and dramatics pops of lightness around the face and tips, which can be achieved from the foiling.

Most viral post: The most “viral” post was one that was reposted by behind the chair. It was a vibrant, peach lob with shattered bangs. I think it was popular because it was a color everyone WANTS to try, but nobody has the guts to do it themselves. I hear all of the time, “I love that hair, I wish I could pull that off.” I think this look in particular was one of those daring, chic and edgy styles that everyone wishes they could try once in their lifetime.
Favorite apps: I try not to alter or change photos besides sizing them properly to fit in the screen. No crop is a good sizing tool! Sometimes a client will request I smooth their blemishes, so face tune is great for that!!
Favorite hashtags: #MODERNSALON

Pro tips: Lighting can change the game. I always take my clients outside and try and find a blank wall as my backdrop. All my photos must be done in the shade! If you are working late into the evening, using the halo light might be an alternative option. For captions, I title a lot of my hair colors by relating them my favorite desserts. Who doesn’t want to think of chocolate mousse or mudpie as they drool over a rich warm, brunette with beachy waves? Its genius. I try and change my hashtags to target different audiences. Sometimes, we are more inclined to hashtag a word with the MOST content on the page, when in fact scaling back and hash tagging something local and more specific could bring more business to you and your page.
Hidden talent (beauty-related): I love braids. I can do all sorts of them, including cornrows.
Hidden talent: I can stretch my upper lip to be 1-inch-long vertically. I’m obviously lacking in the talent department.
How social media changed my life: It allows us to reach a new platform to express our creativity! It’s a great tool to expand your clientele, get inspired by other artists and connect with people in the industry.
The first time I was featured on MODERN’s Insta: I was featured on MODERN SALON’s Insta in February! That love story gave me ALL the feels. It is so rewarding to see someone on a bigger platform, recognize our hard work and craftsmanship. This particular look that was featured was a caramel ganache balayage: dessert with beachy waves.
