Most viral post: I created a multitonal pastel color melt on a client that has the longest, most gorgeous hair; it ended up everywhere it seemed! After going viral the first time, a couple months passed and then it blew up all over again! It was coined “Kaleidoscope Hair” by Allure and “2018’s Prettiest Hair Color Trend” by Hello! Magazine for its prismatic effects

Favorite apps: FaceTune. This is where I’ll do a little polishing for skin if needed. Not everyone comes into the salon ready for a photo shoot. I want to make sure my clients feel comfortable when I post pics, but for overall consistency as well. Once in a while I’ll use this app to blur out the background, too

Pro tips: Take the time to capture quality images, and perfect your creations with styling and finishing. Some stylists roll their eyes when I tell them I book an extra 30 min to style/take photos, but it’s never not been worth it. This is the cherry on top, don’t rush through it or leave things undone. I promise it pays off, and you’ll be a better artist because of it!

Hidden talent (beauty-related): Most people don’t know this, but I am a highly trained and experienced makeup artist! The first big gigs I ever worked in New York for fashion week or editorial campaigns was as a makeup artist, and it’s one of my greatest passions!

Hidden talent: My guacamole is the best you’ll ever have!

How social media changed my life: I started my professional Instagram page two years ago. I had just moved across the country and was starting over in Portland with zero clients, zero contacts and basically zero dollars. Times were tough. Social media has been the number one tool I’ve used to show people what I got and who I am as an artist, resulting in my business and clientele growing faster than I ever could have imagined or thought possible. The inspiration, motivation and relationships I’ve gained through social media are priceless.

The first time I was featured on MODERN’s Insta: I remember waking up and seeing the home screen on my phone lighting up over and over again, my page was blowing up! MODERN SALON had reposted this metallic platinum bun that I had created and when I realized what had happened I honestly probably cried. The feeling of seeing my hard work being acknowledged meant everything to me. Still does.
