Artist Connective member Katie DeLuca (@hairbykatied) is no stranger to braids. Her Instagram grid is an aesthetically-pleasing array of clean backgrounds, colorful hair, and beautiful braided styles.

So what do you do when your client isn't born with larger-than-life locks? Add extensions, of course! DeLuca was excited to try Hothead's Hair Extensions' Colormelt tape-in extensions. Colormelts include a spectrum of gorgeous shades that melt into one another. Colormelts were inspired by hand-painted techniques such as ombré and balayage, no lightener needed!

"I sandwiched 14-16” 3/GR on top and 14-16” 5/8 underneath for a full head of perfectly dimensional hair extensions," DeLuca writes on her Instagram. "Because the bonds are small, it’s easy to do a quick fishtail with no detection of an extension."

There’s more to learn about the craft, and business, of extensions.
