L’anza Healing Haircare launched its Clay Decolorizer, a clay lightener with consistency that warrants ultimate control and a formula that offers up to seven levels of lift. The clay is formulated with Kaolin, a natural clay that activates the decolorizer powder into a soft spreadable mixture that stays moist and in place as it lightens.

The Clay Decolorizer is mixed with cream developer—either 10, 20, 30 or 40 volume—in a 1:2 ratio in a nonmetallic bowl. It processes at room temperature for up to 60 minutes, depending on desired level of lift.

“I’m always excited to test new balayage products,” says Stephanie Shellengberger (@stephanie_stylist). “L’anza Clay Decolorizer’s moisture-rich clay mixes into a creamy consistency for easy application. The developer contains keratin to heal and protect the hair.”

Shellenberger is a "cool-girl hair" and balayage extraordinaire. She used L'anza's Clay Decolorizer for one of her latest creations, and shows her process in a perfect video.

Formula: L'anza Clay Decolorizer and 40 volume developer (2:1 ratio)

STEP 1: Balayage Clay Decolorizer onto hair and let process for 40 minutes with no heat.
STEP 2: Shampoo with L’anza Healing Color Care shampoo.

"Did you know this line extends color up to 107% all while being free of parabens, sulfates and sodium chloride?!" Shellenberger adds

STEP 3: Gloss with L’anza Healing Color 10p mixed with translucent developer. Process 20 minutes.

"This line is great because you can use the same color for all guest depending on the developer you choose it will deliver different results; they offer 6 different developers," she says. "In my case I wanted a gloss more for toning so I choose the translucent developer."

STEP 4: Before styling, apply L’anza Healing Oil to deliver keratin to the hair. Add waves to hair and hold with L’anza Texture Spray.
