The Makeup Show is coming to NYC May 5-6, 2019

Powder those puffs my makeup mavens, because the iconic Makeup Show is coming to New York City.

As a make up artist, I’m always on the lookout for tips and tricks and new potions and paints to elevate my career. Where do I find all these magical things? The Makeup Show! And I’m excited that the next show is in my hometown of New York City on May 5th and 6th.

At past shows, I’ve learned a bevy of beauty short cuts including new ways to apply false eyelashes by cutting them into pieces, creating seamless foundation with a Beauty Blender, and how to contour and highlight the face using black and gold pigment. The business classes have taught me proper ways to handle a bridal contract, techniques to negotiate rates and the dos and don’ts of proper set etiquette. I also get tons of inspiration by just walking around and mingling and networking with fellow makeup artists.

The Makeup Show also features big name artists sharing their knowledge in classes, workshops, demos and key note speeches. This list this year includes Meghan Markle’s makeup artist Daniel Martin, business mastermind Tabatha Coffey, editorial artist Erin Parsons, and the CNN makeup team sharing their newsworthy skills.

New this year to The Makeup Show is the International Stage - with top artists from Australia, Israel, England, Dublin, Mexico, Russia, and Germany, flying in to discuss the global makeup market and what is happening in their countries. What a great idea. I’m excited to learn about the business of makeup in other countries.

If you’ve come to shop, you better bring a large cart because the show has more than 50 professional and luxury brand companies including Too Faced, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Stila Cosmetics, Make Up For Ever, Inglot, Kevyn Aucoin, Smashbox and Frends Beauty Supply - all at pro discounts.

As I mentioned, I can’t wait for this show, but for my fellow makeup artists that cannot make it to New York City, make your calendars for upcoming Makeup Shows in these cities: Chicago, San Francisco and Washington, DC.
