"This new client was overdue for a cut and corrective color," says Carissa Castiglia (@ColorByMissCariss), a top artist at the Eva Scrivo Salon, NYC who worked with @PattyPrestonHair for this transformation. “This makeover was done so carefully as a true collaboration to make sure we hit every mark for our client.”
After a detailed consultation, the artists and client hit on some key words: LOB, fringe, dimension, and bronde! "We chose a salon signature technique, 'The Painted Cut', which features balayage placement based on the shape of the cut!“ Because the client has a round face, the duo decided to create balanced cut with a curtain fringe which created a softness within the shape.
Here Castiglia shares the details for the makeover:
Step 1: Take the length just below the collar bone. Create a blunt and subtle angle leaving slightly more length in front for creative detailing around the face.
Step 2: Cut a soft long layer throughout. "I tend to do this with the 'lob' because it gives it movement and life," says Preston.
Step 3: Fringe and face framing: the most technical aspect- Section from the front of the ear forward to the hairline, this allows for a softness within the fringe. Starting at her natural center part, determine where to place the shortest piece. Take 3/4 inch wide triangle sections starting mid section slide cutting with a shear diagonally down the section. Continue throughout the fringe and face frame utilizing this technique while over directing down the length.
Step 4: Rough dry and apply Inoa by L'Oréal Professionnel 6.17 combined with 10 volume from the root to the mid shaft to cancel out orange. Process 15 minutes. Shampoo and condition. Blow dry.
Step 5: Section the hair on the right side from the hairline at the top of the ear to the nape. Paint away from the face in a V shape using Goldwell Silklift and 30 volume developer.
Step 6: Move up the head in this sectioning omitting the fringe area.
Step 7: Section the bang in an upside down V (with the point being at the scalp) and apply bleach in babylights. Process for 30 minutes without heat.
Step 8: Tone 2” of the root with 8.1 Dialight and 6 volume (1:1.5). Process for 5 minutes. Shampoo and condition the hair.
Step 9: Apply STARRING Texture Meringue roots to ends. Blow dry for volume and finish with 1 1/2 inch iron for a soft wave.
