It might still be summer, but it's never too early to think about fall hair colors.

The Autumn/Winter 2019 forecast from Pantone shows a luxe, nuanced palette, so when creating its 2019 hair collection, ColorDesign's Hair Color's Artistic Team referened the 12 stand-out colors and four classic neutrals.

One of those colors is Chili Pepper. ColorDesign says the challenge was to create a color placement technique and/or an innovative new hair color palette using Pantone's forecase as inspiration and ColorDesign Permanent, Ammonia-free, Directy Dyes and/or Fun&Glam colors.

When ColorDesign artists Jean Lyons and Tierra Brown saw the model's complexion and eyes, they decided this look, which they named Chili Pepper after one of Pantone's colors, required warmth, excitement and sweetness they found in three Pantone colors —Chili Pepper, Orange Tiger and Sugar Almond.

Formula

Chili Pepper from ColorDesign

STEP 1: Clarify hair using ABBA Detox Shampoo. Apply ColorDesign Reconstruction Oil for five minutes. Rinse and towel-dry the hair.

STEP 2: Comb out the hair and section into four quadrants. Apply Formula 1 to already damp hair using the balayage technique through the mid-shaft to ends to soften and lighten. Process for 20 minutes. Shampoo with ColorDesign Reconstruction Shampoo. Apply Color Design Reconstruction Oil for five minutes and rinse.

STEP 3: Section dry hair into four quadrants. Using the ColorDesign Shadow Base technique, apply Formula 2 in ¼-inch diagonal back partings two inches deep.

STEP 4: While color is processing, apply Formula 3 mid-shaft to ends on diagonal back slices. Proceed to the front and alternates skips and back-to-back slices. Process for 45 minutes.

STEP 5: After processing is complete, remove foils and proceed with ColorDesign Reconstruction Shampoo followed by ColorDesign Reconstruction Oil for five minutes. Rinse and blow-dry the hair until it’s 100% dry.

STEP 6: On 100% dry hair, apply Formula 4 to shadow root and Formula 5 mid-shaft to ends, making sure to melt the two colors together to avoid any lines of demarcation. Process for 20 minutes. Shampoo with Color Design Reconstruction Shampoo followed by ColorDesign Reconstruction Oil and Mask.
