Top-performing post: My most engaged post was one of my favorite transformations. I had taken my client higher and brighter. Client had six-month grow out with her blonde ends really warm and overly purple shampoo-ed. End result was a bright, buttery, lived-in blonde. I think this photo went viral because of the transformation itself; you could see the confidence in my client’s face with her new look.

Favorite apps: I love Facetune for blurring backgrounds and smoothing any blemishes to give my client’s skin the airbrushed effect. For the Instagram app, I use the sharpening feature under the editing options to make the pictures appear crisp. The Layout app I use is perfect for any collage size.

Pro tip: To me, pictures are everything! The right angle, natural lighting, blurred backgrounds or plain back drop. No print on the clothing. Hashtags are huge! I hashtag everything that describes the photo. For extra audience, I like to switch up the location a lot to whatever is trending that day or weekend, popular places, events, etc.

Fun fact: I’m a lefty, but when it comes to doing hair, I’m ambidextrous! Is sleeping a talent? Because on my days off, I could literally hibernate for 14 plus hours.

My audience follows me because: I think my clients love to follow me because they can relate their hair to the transformations on my page. I love to share my favorite products and recommend things to the ladies that might need advice on what to use on their hair for specific things. I also like to show how different types of hair can look when going lighter. Not everyone’s hair will have the same end result even though they have very similar starting points. I’m very real and 100% open to sharing knowledge and tips to not only clients but also stylists who ask for formulas and advice on tackling certain situations. I’m an open book, and I love sharing information.

How social media changed my life: Social media changed my life because it allowed me to reach people from all over the place. It’s amazing to me how we can connect to so many different people from different parts of the world. Whether it’s connecting with other hair stylist or connecting with potential clients, I love inspiring others to take a chance and make a change. It’s also so motivating for me to see such talented artists traveling and teaching education all over the world based off growth from social media. The opportunities that come with social media are limitless. It’s definitely life changing once you take that leap of faith to put yourself out there.

My first @modernsalon feature: My first time getting featured on MODERN SALON was so exciting for me! I remember waking up to a text message from Maggie Mulhern saying she would love to feature my work. I was half asleep when I opened the text, so it didn’t fully process to me when she said it was MODERN SALON! I instantly sent over the information, and shortly after, I saw my article had been posted. I couldn’t believe it! It felt like such a huge accomplishment to me to see my work out there and sharing the step-by-step process of the transformation. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to be featured!
