Paint the town—rainbow! Chelsea Rae (@honeyhousehair) is the splash of color your feed needs. Those posts don’t come quick and easy, but they have sure paid off. “I spend a good 30 minutes to an hour taking photos,” she says. “This part is the most important for me. My portfolio has become my main source of income, so making time for pictures is a must.”

Top-performing post: My pink glitter bomb video went viral, and it’s still being reposted! It’s been almost a year since I’ve done it!

Favorite apps: I use Instagram for any photo editing. My favorite to adjust are to sharpen and brighten, mainly because our cameras cannot mimic what our eyes can see.

I follow: @garyvee, @alix_maya, @hiltonsophia

Pro tip: I spend a good 30 minutes to an hour taking photos. This part is the MOST important part for me. My portfolio has become my main source of income. Your client has to be aware that it’s part of the appointment.

Hidden talent: I’m secretly a skin care guru. I worked for multiple estheticians before becoming licensed, and I absolutely LOVE skin care. Definitely considered going back to school so I can do chemical peels, laser and microderm.

My audience follows me because: Well first and foremost hair. But I think I’m pretty open, raw and I like to keep it real—I think people like that.

How social media changed my life: I have found my path in life in large part thanks to social media. My main source of new clients is Instagram. I have developed so many amazing relationships via social media. It’s been such an amazing tool in building myself.

My first @modernsalon feature: First time I got featured was for a blue, green and purple color melt! “Indigo Firefly” was her name, and she was a beauty.
