“So this beautiful client just moved to my area in northern Idaho and was looking for a new hairstylist,” says Christina Luck (@cjluck_hair) of the Cole Taylor Salon, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. “She ended up finding me on Instagram. She drove more than one hour to get to me so I could get her to that light blonde that she has been trying to achieve for so long. I am known for my blonde color transformations and have had clients come from California, Arizona, and Washington to have me ‘blonde’ them.”

For Luck, this is quite humbling, and scary too. “I strive to make all my clients feel comfortable and taken care of during their color experience. I have been doing hair for 10 years now. Coeur d’Alene is like heaven on earth - gorgeous lakes and mountains all around. People come here to ‘get away’ and I’m lucky enough to call this place home.” Luck has started an assistant program recently to teach up and coming stylists the latest in blonding, color correction and cutting.

Here she shares the details for this special makeover:

STEP 1: Using Wella Blondor in slice/weave foils, start with 20 volume in the nape, working up to 30 for the top and sides. Switch back to 20 volume in the front hairline. (PRO NOTE: “I mix my lightener every 30 minutes so it stays nice and strong.”) Process with heat for 20 minutes.

STEP 2: At the bowl, apply R+Co Blonde Shampoo and then comb out. Shadow root with Pulp Riot Faction 8 .. 7.1 with double 6 volume. Process for 10 minutes and then rinse.

STEP 3: Tone with Redken Shades EQ equal parts .50oz 9v .20oz 10vv .40oz 9n and .20oz 9GI. Process for 15 minutes.

STEP 4: Shampoo and condition with R+Co Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner.

STEP 5: Finish with a long layer scissor cut and blow out. Curl with a 1 inch Hot Tools curling iron.
