Oh, the power of social media! This client moved from California to Ohio and was looking for a new stylist. It didn’t take too long! She targeted her new beauty pro found her after checking the Facebook feed of some of her new local friends who posted a new photo of herself giving a shout-out to one of our favorite colorists, Janel Latessa (@hairbyjanellatessa), owner/master stylist at JL Hair Artistry, Mayfield Heights, Ohio.

Latessa first removed five inches from the length. If you're going to remove a decent amount of length, Latessa advises you cut if off first "so you don’t waste time or color.”

Here she shares the details for the new color:

STEP 1: Full head teasylights using Latessa’s customized weave and slice diagonal bricklayer pattern. Start in the back applying Lakme K-Blonde with 20 volume, building to 30 volume as you reach the top. Process to desired lift.

STEP 2: When removing foils, push up to melt the lightener to blend. Rinse. Pre-tone by shampooing with Fanola No Orange shampoo.

STEP 3: Tone on damp hair using Lakme 8/17 gloss. Process for 10 minutes, rinse and then shampoo with Fanola No yellow mask.

“We were so in love with the natural looking balayage and it was EXACTLY her hair inspiration photo. This was such an enjoyable Sunday spent with a new client/friend.”
