Lovely lived-in texture by @carolineanythingbutbasic

Lived-in, second-day, woke-up-this-way–whatever you call it, an undone style with touchable texture is always sexy. But stylists know that most “beachy waves” weren’t created on the sand but in the salon…and with the help of the right range of products.

Caroline Guiney @caroline.anythingbutbasic, a SoCal-based stylist, is a fan of the naturally tousled texture that comes from a day at the beach. She worked with the five products in theTexture Sexy Hair Collection to bring some soft, sexy looks together. The collection features buildable formulas with a blend of almond and avocado oils, plus tapioca starch (to absorb natural oils) and copolymers to impart softness, even after cocktailing several products together. This range won’t gum up fine hair, will offer hold to wavy hair, and gives second-day hair a refresh. Oh, and 24-hour humidity protection comes with these products, too, in case you decide you want to hit the beach, after all.

“I don’t know what the beach does to my hair, but I love it,” says Guiney. “While it may look effortless, if you’ve tried it on yourself or a client, you know it’s not so easy. The new texture line is specifically made to give you that effortless beach look with ease.”

Beach Baby How-To

  • Wash: Clean Wave Texturizing Styling Shampoo
  • Prep: Apply Foam Party Lite Texturizing Foam to damp hair. “The difference I noticed in this foam is that it is not at all sticky and even when blow dried in, the hair is still shiny," Guiney says. "It also offers a little hold for a more voluminous look.”
  • Curl: Guiney used a 1 1/2-inch curling iron in an alternating pattern and pulled the ends a bit straight. “Once the curls were set, I broke up the waves using Surfer Girl (my personal favorite product of the line)," she says.  "If you want instant volume and little hold this is your product." Next, use Surfer Girl, a dry texturizing spray that creates texture with buildable volume.
  • Finish: Spray a little High Tide Texturizing Finishing Hairspray to lock in the style.

The line includes a styling shampoo, a texturizing foam, a texturizing beach spray, a dry texturizing spray and a finishing hairspray.  The shampoo is designed to maintain hair’s natural shine while adding texture. The brand recommends using it without a conditioner. For shine the brand's Party Lite Texturizing Foam is where to go. It helps to give texture on wet or dry hair. With a texture level of 8, the Surfer Girl Dry Texturizing Spray has the highest level of the range.
