If you follow MODERN, you probably follow vibrant color specialist Sydney Anne Lopez. Her work is recognizable without even needing to see her name, and her support and encouraging attitude has led her to gain more than 100,000 followers on Instagram. Since being named part of MODERN's Top 100 in 2017, Lopez has also had her work feautred on the cover of our magazine, she regularly serves as a judge in our competitions and recently won the American Influencer Award for emerging hair colorist of the year.

Needless to say, our editors are usually swooning over everything Lopez posts, but a recent video reminded us just why we love her work so much! In a video posted to her Instagram, Lopez demos a beautiful final color result that was achieved using sectioning in the shape of a star.

The result was a blend so beautiful, we had to reach out to Lopez and ask her for the details.

To achieve the brilliant blend, Lopez used colors from Goldwell’s new Elumen Play Collection. An expandion of the brand's nonoxidative and ammonia-free direct dyes that launched in 2001, the new additions deliver creative, semipermanent color and a care collection to support color between salon visits.

There are eight bold, shades and four pastels, all of which are true to tone and can be customized with Clear to pastelize and Jet Black for a more smokey finish. The other shades include: Sunny Yellow, Juicy Orange, Fiery Red, Hot Pink, Mysterious Violet, Ocean Blue, Tropical Green, Blush Coral, Bashful Rose, Sweet Lavender, and Cool Mint. When changing color, Elumen Play Eraser is designed to remove the current shade.
