Abigail Myers (@thebeautybyabigail) of Theory Salon, Orlando, Florida, says, “My client’s goal was to be an icy yet natural blonde with a soft root shadow and a contrasting money piece. She had a lot of banding and unevenness throughout both her roots and mids, and some of her ends were completely dark.”

After a thorough consultation, Myers and her client agreed to get busy with their first blonding session:

STEP 1: Blend Truss Professional Blanc Blond lightener and 8X Powder (“to keep the integrity of her hair intact.”) Start and the nape, working up to the crown in a combination of babylights, slices and balayage. Use 20 volume along the dark banding and slowly increase to 30 volume as you reach the top of her head. Along the warm level 8/9 blonde, use 10 volume. Process to desired lift and then rinse.

STEP 2: Using Redken Shades .15 ml of 7n + 30 ml of 7na, shadow root at about an inch from her root, leaving out the hairline. Process for 10 minutes and then root-tap her hairline for five more minutes.

STEP 3: Tone the rest of the hair using Redken Shades EQ 15 ml of 10vv, 15 ml of 9p and 30 ml of crystal clear. Process for 10 minutes. Shampoo with Oribe Gold Lust.
