Shape is lifeā„¢ļø šŸ™ŒšŸ½šŸŒ»āœ‚ļøā€¢ ā€¢ Missing my daughter, Aleina, while she's away at college. This was a fun cut she wanted me to do on her hair to amplify her afro. I love that this shape brings out her color I did on her hair as well. @blackmetalvegan is one of my nearest and dearest friends, and believe it or not, I met her right here in my chair just 3 years ago! Sev came to me as a color model for an Aveda contest, and even though I wasnā€™t selected as a finalist, I did make a life-long friend, so the match was a win in my book! . . . To achieve the @pinkdagger -inspired look that Sev and I sat down to create, I started by isolating and pre-lightening her bang area where we really wanted her color to POP! After we had gotten this color-blocked section to a nice pale yellow, I went in with @avedaā€™s Full Spectrum intense base mixed with deep orange-yellow pigments on the rest of her hair. We shined up this gorgeous red by glossing with Avedaā€™s Demi+ light copper before moving on to the pre-lightened section. To finish off the look, I applied a mixture of the #AvedaVibrants shades Daffodil and Azalea to this color-blocked area. Is block coloring the new balayage? I think yes! Can you believe @jkilllert had a full head of virgin hair before this amazing transformation? She was ready for change and wanted to create a look that felt classic, but with a striking twistā€”a perfect representation of her wildly cool personality! I went in with back-to-back slicing, and once all the original color was lifted, I rinsed, blow-dried, and applied more lightener at her roots and pulled it through to the areas that needed a little more lift. Even though her hair had never been color-processed before, we still had to double-process her gorgeous locks to achieve this level of lift. Luckily for JT, I had a cancellation right after her appointment, and she had no other plans in the day, so we went ahead with the double-process and made her hair dreams a hair reality! Iā€™m so thankful for all my badass and patient clients who put so much trust in this artistic (and scientific!!!) process.
