Nicholas Penna Jr., owner of SalonCapri outside of Boston, is continuing the 1920s-inspired looks that are popping up in anticipation of the release of Hollywood’s The Great Gatsby.

Penna’s “1920s party Coif” features a loose coil at the back of the head, secured with a headband that circles the forehead in perfect Jazz-Age style.

Prepare hair with a smoothing crème or serum to prevent frizz and fly-aways. Penna suggests Shu Uemura’s White Tea Polishing Milk.

Work a small amount of Shu Uemura Volume Maker into hair.

Evenly comb out hair and place a sparkled elastic headband around head, falling halfway between hairline and brows.

Pull hair into a pony tail and twist ends tucking into the elastic headband until all ends are secured.

Beginning at the ears, tuck loose ends beneath the headband until all pieces are secured.

The finished style should resemble a French twist at the sides. Finish with a strong hold hairspray. Penna suggests L’Oreal Professionnel Infinium 3 Strong Hold Working Spray. visit saloncapri.com.
