As Tom Porter puts it, the following information will only apply to you if you use water to shampoo your client's hair.

Moving? Test the Waters, Literally, with Malibu C

Porter, founder of Malibu Wellness, knows that when hairdressers move, they take their talent with them but other things will change, including the water.

"You can’t afford to start on any client until you know that there is nothing on the hair that is going to interfere with your service," says Porter.  "Minerals in water can enter the cuticle and create a wall that blocks solutions and prevents proper penetration of color."

Malibu Wellness offers a "Just Add Water" kit so stylists can test hardness of water (the presence of calcium and magnesium) and for chlorine - the two factors that most adversely affect hair, scalp and skin issues.  It includes testing instructions, test strips and Wellness Treatment.

VIDEO: When Amanda Nash relocated from North Dakota to Minnesota she had a very "moving" experience because of the change in the water supply.  She "was ridiculed" and lost confidence in herself as a hairdresser.  It wasn't until she realized it wasn't her, it was her water, that she was able to address the situation and succeed.
