The stylists competed live on stage at Sutra Nightclub in Costa Mesa for the title of ‘OC’s Best Stylist 2013.’ The judges’ panel featured Holly Clinard, style editor of Locale Magazine; Laurent D., celebrity stylist and founder of Prive´; and Scott Fontana, “OC Style Icon” and owner of Cristophe Salon Newport Beach. The top five contestants included: Rene Antonio of Salon Gregorie’s, Annie Gill of the Beauty Mark, Morgan Higgins of Salon Bleu, Jimmy Salazar of Cristophe Salon Newport Beach and Christina Sanchez of Christina Sanchez Hair Design. They participated in a live hair cutting and styling competition followed by a style showcase to prove they had what it takes to be crowned ‘OC’s Best Stylist 2013.’
The live hair show competition officially kicked off with a live cut and style by Scott Fontana. Next the top five finalists performed their own cut and style live on stage. Once the clock wound down 30 minutes, the judges critiqued the stylists’ results. Then the finalists presented three other models’ pre-created looks in a featured showcase. After the judges’ deliberation, the title of ‘OC’s Best Stylist 2013’ was awarded to Morgan Higgins.
As the winner of the live hair competition, Higgins was awarded with $1,500 cash and other prizes. The first runner-up, Christina Sanchez, received $500 cash and the second runner-up, Rene Antonio, received $250 cash. All three winners also received restaurant gift cards, bottles of wine, Scott Fontana Collection products and other prizes.
