In an in-depth, hands-on workshop featuring Tearsheet’s Giovanni Giuntoli at Premiere Orlando 2013, Giuntoli shared with MODERN how to create this chic ponytail with the roll on top. In the class, participants were taught how to work with hair wefts and forms. In this look, both were used.
To get the look, Giuntoli gave us a rundown of the full process.
STEPS: First create a left side deep part, then bring the hair into a tight ponytail. Once the ponytail is secure, create a three-strand braid inside the ponytail and then wrap a weft around to extend the tail of the ponytail.
From there, Giuntoli talks about creating the roll on top of the head, which was created by wrapping the hair in a form—this is an especially helpful technique if you are working with clients who have fine or thinning hair.
