One of the HOTTEST tools at the HOT TOOLS booth at the Premiere Show in Orlando, Florida, was the Crimson Fade Flat iron.

"It was originally designed to be just a great, light weight, low profile, iron," says Hot Tools Platform artist Daniel Keane. "There is this totally wonderful accidental engineering design that allows salon professionals an opportunity to create smooth, shiny curls."

Keane is referring to the ribs along the sides of the iron, originally placed to disperse the heat.  "They have an added benefit," he says. "The hair goes into the ribs which combs the hair while styling."

In this demo, Keane shows how the iron works, and shares why he uses triangular sections.
